Statement concerning a fire at a Tracker administrative building

January, 2009

Tracker can confirm that a fire has damaged the top floor of one of its administrative buildings in an office park in Cresta, Johannesburg.

The fire broke out during the early morning hours of Saturday (January 17). The building was unoccupied at the time and nobody has been hurt. The blaze has been extinguished. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

Tracker’s Emergency Call Centre is based in another building and, as such, was not damaged in the blaze.

“We would just like to reassure our customers that in the event of their vehicles being stolen or hijacked, Tracker is still able to activate their vehicles,” says Gareth Crocker, Communications Manager for Tracker.

“Due to the nature of our business, Tracker is well equipped for this scenario and we have a comprehensive disaster recovery plan in place. We, in fact, have an entire building at our disposal for just this eventuality. Furthermore, we are actually in the process of moving staff to Tracker’s new buildings and would have vacated the affected building in any event in the coming weeks. Customers can rest assured that Tracker will be able to function with little disruption when normal business resumes on Monday morning,” says Crocker.

“We are just grateful that nobody was hurt in the blaze.”
